Adham Ashraf Zaazaa is a doctor and andrology surgeon specializing in the medicine and surgery of andrology and fertility, as well as the treatment of male infertility. He is of Egyptian nationality and was born in 1978 in Marseille, France.
Dr. Adham is an Associate Professor of Andrology at Cairo University Hospitals, including Qasr El Ainy Hospital, and also practices at his private clinic and Badaya hospitals for Fertility and Artificial Insemination. In addition, he is a faculty member in the Department of Andrology at Cairo University’s Faculty of Medicine, where he teaches surgical techniques in the field of andrology and supervises numerous research projects, master’s and doctoral theses related to fertility and precise surgeries of the male reproductive organ. He has dedicated his time and research efforts to evaluate and develop surgical techniques for the male reproductive organ.

Education

Dr. Adham Zaazaa joined the faculty of medicine at Cairo University in 1995 and graduated with excellence in 2001. He was appointed at Cairo University’s Faculty of Medicine in 2003. He spent his Internship from 2002 to 2003 and residency from 2003 to 2008 in the Department of Andrology at Cairo University Educational Hospitals, Qasr El Ainy.

Dr. Adham Zaazaa attended intensive training periods at the Oxford University in England and San Francisco University in California, under the supervision of Professor Tom Lue, a pioneer in penile curvature and Peyronie’s disease surgeries in the United States. He also attended multiple training courses in Amsterdam and Milan. Dr. Adham Zaazaa obtained a Master’s degree in Medical Sciences from the Department of Andrology at Cairo University’s Faculty of Medicine in 2008 and then received his Ph.D. from Cairo University’s Faculty of Medicine in the field of precise surgeries of the male reproductive organ in 2013.

  • Attended the 2nd Training Course in the Middle East on Male Health and Erectile Dysfunction in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in 2017.
  • Ph.D. in Andrology and Male Genital Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, 2013.
  • Certified in Microscopic Injection by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.
  • European Board of Sexual Health certified in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
  • Attended the European School of Sexual Medicine (ESSM) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, in 2011.
  • Trained in the Department of Urologic Oncology and Stem Cell Research at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) in 2009.
  • Master of Science in Andrology, Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, 2008.


His scientific contributions:

  • Dr. Adham conducted his master’s research on improving fertility by treating the fragmentation of genetic material in sperm heads.
  • In his doctoral thesis, Dr. Adham discussed the evaluation of surgical techniques used in the treatment of congenital penile curvature.
  • Dr. Adham conducted numerous research studies on surgical techniques used in male reproductive disorders, including:
    • Development of a new surgical technique called “Zaazaa Cavesonal Sparing Technique”. He presented the details for the first time in 2018 at the European Society for Sexual Medicine Conference (ESSM) in Lisbon, Portugal. This technique preserves the cavernous tissue during penile prosthesis implantation, providing advantages such as maintaining natural erectile function, vitality of penile tissues, and warmth sensation during erection.
    • Development of the SIVCA (Standard IV Cannula Aspiration) technique to facilitate sperm retrieval without surgical intervention, thereby treating cases of azoospermia (zero sperm count). This technique revolutionized the field of intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).
    • Study the effect of varicocelectomy and/or mast cells stabilizer on sperm DNA fragmentation in infertile patients with varicocele.
    • A pilot study of penile hemodynamics in men with penile curvatures.
    • A study on the relationship of drug addiction to sexual dysfunction.
    • A study on a new technique (CPI) to correct penile curvature.
    • A study on ejaculation and orgasmic disorders.
    • A study on Peyronie’s disease as one of the silent symptoms of diabetes.
    • A study on the safety and efficacy of escitalopram in the treatment of premature ejaculation.
    • A study on the short-term use of sildenafil in the treatment of unconsummated marriages.

Throughout his scientific career, Professor Dr. Adham Zaazaa, a pioneer in male prosthetic surgery in Egypt and the Middle East with over 20 years of experience in male prosthetic surgery and recipient of the Coloplast Leadership Award in Male Surgeries, has examined and treated the following cases:

  • Over 35,000 cases of male infertility and sexual dysfunction.
  • Over 5,000 reproductive system surgeries.
  • Over 1,000 penile prosthesis implants to treat erectile dysfunction, including both malleable and inflatable implants.
  • Over 1,500 microscopic injection procedures.
